Providing efficient and effective health care is a global challenge. ISPOR is an international global organization that exists to help meet this challenge by continuing to globalize; working with payers demanding greater evidence of value; and helping to establish what is feasible, given data, costs, and the science, to improve methods, the evidence base, and decision making, over time.
ISPOR Lebanon Chapter (LSPOR) aims to continue to raise health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) scientific standards by providing workshops and opportunities both for learning and for exchanging important new ideas and approaches.
“Ensuring Value in Lebanese Healthcare” is the theme of the conference that was held in February 2016 centered during the morning sessions on the launch of LSPOR vision and mission, its strategic pillars, organizational values, and key initiatives for 2016.
During a plenary session, “Gaps in Lebanese Healthcare” a multidisciplinary faculty from practicing payers, policy makers, public health leaders, biotech and device industry, as well as the WHO shared their views and discussed the Gaps of Lebanese healthcare funds in day-to-day practice as well as in strategic decision making.
The audience were pharmacists, public health and medical professionals involved in decision making at the level of hospitals, insurance companies, regulatory authorities, public health faculties, syndicates, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare practitioners and consultancy firms.
Topics were presented by LSPOR President Dr. Ghassan Hamadeh and members Dr. Mirna Metni, Dr. Rita Karam, Dr. Soumana Nasser, Dr. Marie-Thérèse Sawaya, Mr. Maher Hassoun. The panel was animated by Dr. Colette Raidy (Ministry of Public Health representative), Dr. Layla Al Haber (National Social Security Fund representative), Dr. Alissar Radi (World Health Organization representative), Dr. Omar Dabbous (Head of Value Evidence Analytics/ GlaxoSmithKline R&D) and Mr. Walid Hallassou (General Manager of GlobeMed Lebanon).
